Acumen is pleased to partner with a U.S. based and family run sports focused apparel manufacturing company working with major brands outfitting national professional and college teams, looking for a Production Manager to join their team. This position will serve as a key leader for a growing company, with a strong reputation in the industry, overseeing the Cutting, Laser, Assembly, and Sublimation departments.

Location: NE Portland, Oregon
Compensation: $105,000 – $130,000

The Production Manager is responsible for the supervision and administration of the Cutting, Laser, Assembly, and Sublimation departments to ensure the high quality and production volume levels needed to hit customers’ expected delivery dates. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting and addressing any issues that occur during this process. The Production Manager will also work closely with product development, quality control, and all production areas.

Essential Job Duties

•    Oversee Cutting, Laser, Assembly, and Sublimation supervisors and their respective teams
•    Cultivate a motivated employee environment of trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and ownership
•    Provide operational support to Supervisors, Leads, and Operators during the manufacturing process
•    Coach and mentor Supervisors, Leads, and Operators, creating positive work environment
•    Manage workflow on the production floor
•    Review and follow up the WIP work plan for export dates
•    Develop and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve cutting room operations, minimize operating costs, and look for improved labor and material utilization
•    Provide strategic planning solutions to increase productivity for processes
•    Manage all machine maintenance, issue workorders for any machine issues immediately
•    Responsible for keeping the production floor clean and organized in accordance with company policies and requirements
•    Partner with quality control to create SOPs for the area, continue to look for opportunities of improvement
•    Confer with other Supervisors and Managers to coordinate activities of individual departments; read and analyze work orders, bill of materials, and specification sheets to know what fabrics and colors are specified for each style for each program
•    Create and share KPI metrics with Supervisors, Leads, and Operators to fully understand expectations and goals
•    Employee administration (annual reviews, absences, PTO, resolve any issues or questions)
•    Attend daily and weekly meetings to provide updates on machines and operators
•    Manage special projects and other duties as assigned

Education/ Experience

  • Minimum 5 years production facility management experience, preferably in the apparel or sporting goods industry
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in sublimation printing, laser and/or cutting room experience
  • Practical team leadership and people management experience with a proven track record of success in building collaborative, high-performance teams

  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers at all levels within the organization and from various backgrounds
  • Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to work per prescribed production methodologies and processes
  • Excellent organizational and engaging interpersonal skills
  • Flexible, adaptable to change
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and writing
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Proficient with MS Office, Excel, and comfortable with Adobe Illustrator
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish highly desired
